From mockup to the real thing. It's taken a couple of weeks but I now have the worm attached to the mount and it works. Have driven the mount 360ยบ around with no binding or any other problems...will it work with a heavy scope on it? I hope so will find out soon enough. All that is left is a collar on the worm shaft and a slomo flexi cable to start with before I get around to dropping a motor on this baby. I did a thread on Ice In Space the Southern Forum and found that brass and aluminium will corrode if they get wet....a highly likely event with scopes so it's either use all brass, which I'd like to do, or all aluminium which is what I'm temporarily going to do. This means cutting new 8" circles and putting a barrier between the bronze RA gear and the aluminium pressure plates, no big deal but another thing to do. Feel like I'm almost there with this project.

Will have my two gears 24T-64T real soon, which combined with the two gears from the HEQ5 should, fingers crossed, have the mount tracking at sidereal rate Light at the end of the tunnel!
