I am building a TCR style 127mm F12 R30, and I need some advice on mounting the Moonlight focuser on the rear plate. Since the scope will not have a traditional tube, the iStar back plates (which are designed to fit a tube) are not an option without further machining. Can i mount the Moonlight directly into the marine plywood back plate of the scope? Will I need an adaptor of some kind that can bolt/screw to the back plate and attach the flange of the focuser? Ideas? ANyone done this? Thanks

I really don't se a problem with a marine ply disc , perhaps double thickness with an Alloy front plate , like Matt did with his 152mm f12 , have a look . The TCR still has about 75mm of solid tube at either end so it is essentially a tube there anyway .
Sounds like a nice design you have in mind , look forward to a thread documenting the build ,, enjoy Glen .

Thanks Brian for that advice. I have heard back from Moonlight and have decided to go with a TAL250 adaptor flange which can bolt to the marine ply backplate. More to come.
