Just wanted to say hello, I am new to the iStar world, but not to astronomy. I am about to start building a scope based on the 127mm R30 objective. My scope collection consists of a 16" GSO Pushto Dob, and a Bresser AR102 refractor on a Vixen Porta II mount with motor drives.

Welcome to Istar Glen. Great lens. Really good performer with a minimum amount of CA even on bright objects. I used one two years ago at the WSP and enjoyed good views of M42 and Jupiter. Be sure to keep us abreast of the build to come.

Welcome.
I've heard nothing but good things about that scope. I particularly liked the Neil English review in which he actually purchased one but your probably aware of that.
I'm a push-to guy also with a Unistar mount and my Asteria 150 F8 R35 but I'll bet that 5" scope is best on planets. Doug

Welcome Glen. Well done on the Istar decision too…As I said in my build the Istar 6" f12 leaves my former 6" f8 Synta for dead, any comparison is not possible, great objectives. A 16" dob and a 5" frac will be a terrific couple. My 10" Newt is too close to the 6" refractor in a lot of ways, but thats OK as I always choose the frac every time! Enjoy the build. Matt

Hi Glen and welcome to the Istar Club , you wont be dissapionted one bit as these Istar objectives are top quality , as you will see if you read thru this site . I have done a quite comprensive report with photos of my 127mm f8 Istar build in the ATM section under 'Istar 127mm f/8 retro fit' about 10 down . Have a read and prepaired to get inspired .
Welcome mate and please keep us informed .
Brian.

Hi Glend...
Welcome to Istarscopeclub....
127 R30 is definitely going to be the better choice , whereby the 127mm classic version already delivers such a good performance , from comments from other members.....
