That is certainly a great look MATT. Very reminiscent of Tim's hand built refractors. Looking forward to first light report.

Thanks all too kind by half on the comments, specially yours Ian. I have to say I really like the look too. This thing is huge still can't get over the size of it. The NEQ6 works OK just fine, when it's balanced well, though a G11 would be better. I'm going to have to star saving those pennies again. All in a good cause. I'll start a thread in the achro section with a first light….and unusually it was a fantastic night! Only a couple of things to do: A dewshield cap and a dedicated solar film shield. A pull on/off short shield with Baader film mounted in it. One of the good things about ATM scope is I can add bits easily! Matt

Full circle. The Refractor is now on the wooden tripod, so good to get some height. Second pic is my sliding weight from a Meade scope which works perfectly.

That is just AWSOME !!! , Matt. Scratch my request for a photo of the set up on the HW tripod in your first light report. Classic looking scope , oh and are you going to paint the guide and finder scopes white as well ? . So I take it there will be a 6inch f8 going on the market soon ? . Brian.

The finder and 70mm f7 white????You bettcha. In fact the 70mm f7 will get a complete make over. It is a very nice small scope but it an awful 1.25" plastic focuser, so soon I'll be mounting the objective in a cell in a 100mm aluminium tube with a 2" GSO 10:1 focuser at the other end. Simple That combo will give me more than 5º with a 40mm 68ºish eyepiece in it. No idea if Field Curvature from the objective will be a problem, at f7 I don't know. Only one way to find out! Naturally the whole lot will be painted white with a bit of black….another build…Great! Another thread? I must add the whole scope has turned out so much better than I ever thought possible….I love it.

Thanks for doing this thread boomboom, I'm just starting off on the same adventure as you with the same 6" f12 lens cell, nearly got an f15 till I realised how long it would be . I will start a thread when my lens cell arrives, would really appreciate any comments and advice.
