Why such angst over a personal problem? I assume it is only because delorme did not understand that this was just a member thinking of making an adapter, not a business making promises which it could not keep.
Time we all go outside at night and look up again at the wonders of the night.

OK guys. To pursue this project or not? Will you invest $519 plus the cost of the adapter? Let's say with shipping the total is at $600 to $625. Is it worth putting into an old C6R? Remember the focuser is junk Chinese pot metal. A replacement from GSO is $175 and it's not that great. There is a C6R on AM for $400 and includes a GSO. I need it in order to have the counter cell for measurements. Opinions? Comments?
An R35 is $925 for the lens only.
Somebody said they would sell like hotcakes. Really?

Mike I'll stick by my previous post and say it's not worth it when I thought about it. Seems like a good idea on the surface but when the focuser and Lens has been replaced its an expensive Synta tube thats left...even from the second hand market. For people with machining skills and access to lathes etc they would do what Brian has done and make their own adaptor, or do an ATM. For others like me its go down the ATM route, using wood as I have, or buy a complete scope, which is what I would have done if it wasn't for the shipping and taxes in this country. Just my opinion Matt

By the time you get the lens, the adapter, postage, assembly, new focuser etc, you might as well buy a secondhand triplet. I think its a no-goer.

Well, we've already replaced the focusers on our CR6" long ago. What I{we} need is a better lens. Why should I buy or make a tube when the one I have is just fine. Buying your lens is $925 plus an adaptor $175 total $1,100 verses making a tube plus buying rings and lens and the time to make it. Or purchasing your scope for $1,750 plus rings. It's far more economical to buy the adaptor, lens and much more convenient.
I don't remember you saying that this was a personal project. It's hard to know when I'm talking to Istar or you since your profile photo shows their logo and you are a partner/owner.
What I remember is reading a post in August of 2012 where someone was asking about a CR6" lens adaptor.
So you do have your CR6", you had indicated previously that someone had run off with it and that you could not do the measurements.
There are 3 sets of screws which holds the lens cell on, just take off the screws and the lens comes off, I did this when I flocked my tube.
If you don't want the criticism then don't say you will do something and don't deliver. It works both ways, you take credit for your lens and you should because they're good, you should be willing to listen to the criticism.
My frustration towards you/Istar was based on thinking that an adaptor was going to be soon released and realizing that it wasn't even close.
You said in your August 19,2013 post that the adaptor was going to be done in a couple of weeks.

Delorme. Please play nice! I don't like to get involved with respectful criticisms or even sometimes heated debates about the direction ISTAR is or should be going in. BUT keep it respectful or take it somewhere else.
I don't want to start deleting posts and censoring free conversation, so I am letting you know publicly, not to single you out, but so everyone can benefit from the correction. I tolerate more than ANY mods ANYWHERE, and things have been going fine with you guys just showing each other respect. Please let's keep it that way.
Thank you Joe
